Atiku lacks skills to govern modern economy, studied sanitation at Kano School of Hygiene — Shettima
Vice-President Kashim Shettima has criticised African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, questioning his ability to manage Nigeria’s economy ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to TheCable, Shettima made the remarks Monday during the 32nd Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja, while opposing Atiku’s proposal to restore petrol subsidies.
“One of the leading presidential candidates (Atiku) is advocating a return to the subsidy scheme. He wants us to backslide into primitivity for political convenience,” Shettima said.
“I dare to put forward that his skill set… he was trained in sanitation at the Kano School of Hygiene. So he doesn’t have the skill set to govern a modern economy. That’s a painful truth.”
Shettima defended President Bola Tinubu’s subsidy removal, describing it as a necessary economic decision.
However, Atiku’s campaign dismissed the criticism, challenging Shettima to address rising living costs rather than attacking his educational background.
