Alex Eala emerges tennis’ new global face with 120m fans

Filipino tennis star Alexandra Eala, 21, is emerging as one of the sport’s most popular figures, boasting a fanbase of 120 million and drawing massive crowds wherever she plays.

As reported by The US Sun, Eala, ranked 18th on the WTA Tour, said she remains grounded despite her growing profile, crediting “gratitude” and describing herself as “a drop in the ocean” in tennis history.

She is set to return home on December 8 to face Janice Tjen at the Philippine Arena, targeting over 52,000 fans, which would break the tennis attendance record.

However, Eala opens her second US Open campaign against American Mary Stoiana on Tuesday at Louis Armstrong Stadium.
