Amazon cargo plane overshoots Miami airport runway, strikes multiple vehicles

An Amazon cargo plane overshot a runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday, striking multiple vehicles and leaving several people injured.

According to Sky News, the aircraft overran the runway at about 2 p.m. local time after arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The plane, operated by 21 Air for Amazon Air, caught fire following the incident, sending thick black smoke into the sky.

More than 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units were deployed to tackle the blaze and assist those affected. The Federal Aviation Administration ordered a ground stop at the airport, while all runways and taxiways were temporarily closed. Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
