Amnesty launches petition against Fadahunsi over ‘kill Accord’ remark
Amnesty International Nigeria has launched an online petition seeking justice against Senator Francis Fadahunsi over remarks it says incited violence ahead of Saturday’s Osun governorship election, according to Punch.
The group called on the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to launch a prompt, impartial investigation into the comments. Fadahunsi has denied advocating violence, saying his remarks meant defeating Accord “with votes, not violence.”
He was questioned by Osun police for over two hours on Wednesday after a video of the comments sparked backlash ahead of Saturday’s poll.
