Andy Burnham ‘really concerned’ to lose Manchester City Emirati owners in Premier League
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has said he would be “really concerned” if Manchester City’s Emirati owners were to leave English football following the club’s guilty verdict over Premier League financial charges. According to The Athletic, Burnham praised City Football Group for its investment in Manchester, including developments around the Etihad Stadium and training campus.
City were found guilty of almost all of the more than 100 charges brought against them and have said they will appeal. Burnham, who previously defended Everton during their financial sanctions, said he would not intervene in the case, stressing that his experience meant it would be wrong to take sides.
