Anthony Gordon opens up on controversial Tuchel decision in Argentina loss
Barcelona winger Anthony Gordon has admitted he was surprised by Thomas Tuchel’s decision to substitute him during England’s World Cup semi-final defeat by Argentina, according to GOAL. Gordon had scored to put England ahead before being replaced by defender Ezri Konsa as Tuchel switched to a more defensive approach.
Speaking after returning to international duty, the 25-year-old said he felt particularly confident after scoring and believed he was performing at his best. Tuchel later acknowledged that the tactical change came too early, explaining that fatigue had influenced his decision. Gordon said the defeat remained painful but could provide lessons for England as they prepare to face Spain in the Nations League.
