Anthony Gordon strikes up friendship with Barcelona superstar after Newcastle exit

Anthony Gordon appears to have quickly formed a close relationship with Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal following his £70 million move from Newcastle United. The England winger is yet to score for the Spanish champions but has made an immediate impact, registering five assists in his first five appearances.

Gordon has mainly operated from the left under Hansi Flick, while his work rate has reportedly impressed his new teammates. His relationship with Yamal has also attracted attention after the teenage star responded to Gordon’s social media post celebrating Barcelona’s 5-1 Champions League victory over Feyenoord with the message “broskyyy”.

Gordon’s Newcastle departure was ultimately viewed positively by the club, with sporting director Ross Wilson saying the Magpies were delighted to see him secure a move to Barcelona. According to Chronicle Live, Gordon’s Barcelona adaptation has been swift.
