APM, PDP candidates withdraw from Osun guber race, endorse incumbent Adeleke

Two candidates in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election — Adebayo Adewale of the Allied Peoples Movement and Adedamola Adebayo of the Peoples Democratic Party — have withdrawn from the race and endorsed incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15 poll.

Adewale announced his withdrawal at a Thursday press conference, saying his decision followed “deep reflection and extensive consultation” and was driven by Osun’s interests over personal ambition. “I believe Governor Adeleke deserves another term to consolidate the progress of his administration,” he said.

According to The Cable, PDP candidate Adebayo similarly stepped down in Osogbo, urging party members and supporters to “support the emergence of Ademola Adeleke as governor till 2030.”
