‘Are you playing politics again?’ Poland confronts Musk over Starlink restrictions in Ukraine
Poland has criticised billionaire Elon Musk over restrictions on SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service, which reportedly disrupted Ukrainian military operations amid continuing Russian attacks.
According to The Independent, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski questioned Musk’s motives after Ukrainian forces experienced disruptions affecting several combat missions on Tuesday.
“Hey, @elonmusk, big man, are you playing politics with your products again?” Sikorski wrote on X.
“As your European customers, we are watching you.”
Ukraine’s presidential military technology adviser reportedly confirmed that several operations failed following the restrictions.
The disruption coincided with Russian ballistic missile attacks, which Ukraine said occurred without advance warning from the United States for a second consecutive night.
Poland finances Ukraine’s Starlink subscriptions, which support military communications and long-range drone operations.
Musk previously insisted Starlink would never be used as leverage in the conflict.
“We would never do such a thing or use it as a bargaining chip,” he said.
The latest controversy comes amid renewed tensions surrounding Washington’s approach to the Russia-Ukraine war.
