Arsenal beat Everton to draw level with Man City after leaders’ defeat
Arsenal moved level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City after securing a 2-0 victory over Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. According to Sky Sports, the Gunners capitalised on City’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, with defenders Ezri Konsa and Gabriel scoring to secure three points.
Konsa opened the scoring in the seventh minute, converting Viktor Gyokeres’ assist from a corner for his first goal for the club. The strike also ended Arsenal’s wait for their first set-piece goal of the season. Everton missed a golden opportunity to equalise before half-time when Thierno Barry failed to punish Ben White’s weak headed back pass to goalkeeper David Raya.
Gabriel sealed the win in the 68th minute with a header, marking his 200th Premier League appearance for Arsenal. The result gave Arsenal their seventh league victory in eight matches, taking them to 21 points, level with Manchester City but behind on goal difference. Everton, meanwhile, suffered consecutive league defeats and remain without an away win in the competition this season.
