Aston Villa stun Man City as Nicolas Jackson strikes twice to inflict first league defeat
Manchester City suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season after Aston Villa secured a 2-1 victory at Villa Park, with Nicolas Jackson capitalising on costly mistakes from Marc Guehi and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
According to Football365, Jackson opened the scoring inside six minutes after Guehi failed to control a lobbed pass, allowing John McGinn to set up the striker.City responded after the break when Erling Haaland headed home Iliman Ndiaye’s cross to restore parity.
However, Jackson struck again after Brahim Mbaye picked him out inside the penalty area. His shot went straight at Donnarumma, but the goalkeeper failed to keep it out, handing Villa the winning goal.
Guehi was substituted at half-time following a difficult first half, while City struggled to convert their possession into clear opportunities.
The result ended City’s perfect league start and strengthened Villa’s impressive run, extending their unbeaten streak to seven matches. The defeat also offered Arsenal an opportunity to move top of the table with victory over Everton.
