Police corporal allegedly kills policewoman girlfriend, dies by suicide in Kogi

A police corporal attached to the Ajaokuta Division of the Kogi State Police Command has allegedly shot dead his girlfriend, a fellow officer, before taking his own life.

According to SaharaReporters, the incident reportedly occurred around 9pm on Friday, October 23, 2026.

The officer, identified as Corporal Amos, allegedly abandoned his night-duty post before proceeding to the residence of his girlfriend, Woman Corporal Grace.

He reportedly shot her several times with an AK-47 rifle before turning the weapon on himself.

A source claimed the couple had experienced relationship difficulties involving allegations of infidelity, physical confrontations and threats.

The source further alleged that divisional authorities had previously intervened and advised both officers to end their relationship.

However, the motive behind the incident remains unconfirmed.

The Kogi State Police Command had not officially confirmed the deaths or issued a statement as of the report’s publication.

Efforts to obtain comments from the police spokesperson were unsuccessful.
