At least 12 killed in Tigray drone attack on residents gathering grains in Ethiopia
At least 12 civilians were killed and several others injured in a drone strike in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region on Friday while gathering spilled grain from an earlier attack.
As reported by Anadolu Agency, the attack occurred in the town of Rama. Residents had assembled to collect sorghum scattered on the road after a private truck carrying grain for local traders was struck on Thursday night.
Local sources confirmed that 12 people died at the scene, while the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project also recorded 12 fatalities alongside injuries and property damage. The strike comes amid an escalation of drone operations across northern Ethiopia that has intensified civilian safety concerns and heightened regional tensions with neighboring Eritrea.
