Atiku dares FG to probe him over alleged $16bn power spending

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has challenged the Federal Government to investigate and prosecute him if it has evidence linking him to the alleged $16bn power expenditure during his time in government.

Punch Newspapers reported that Atiku, in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, dismissed the allegations as an attempt to divert attention from questions surrounding the use of revenues from petrol subsidy removal.

Atiku said previous investigations into the power projects did not establish wrongdoing against him, adding that he had repeatedly requested to be investigated.

He also demanded greater accountability from the government.
