Atiku to Tinubu: ‘Take my idea, restore fuel subsidy’

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged President Bola Tinubu to adopt his proposal to restore fuel subsidy, saying Nigerians need relief from rising living costs.

According to Peoples Gazette, Atiku made the call at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, arguing that a sensible policy should not be rejected because it originated from the opposition.

The African Democratic Congress presidential candidate said Tinubu could rename the proposal and take credit for it, adding that his priority was reducing petrol prices for Nigerians.

Atiku has proposed subsidising locally produced petrol to lower pump prices and ease broader economic pressures.

Tinubu has opposed restoring fuel subsidy, maintaining that its removal is a necessary sacrifice aimed at securing Nigeria’s economic future. :::
