Atiku vows to review NELFUND, forgive eligible student debts
ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has pledged to review the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and provide debt forgiveness for eligible students, according to a Daily Post Nigeria report. The pledge, conveyed by his aide Phrank Shaibu, responds to President Bola Tinubu’s recent defence of the loan scheme on X.
Shaibu argued the government raised tuition costs before introducing loans, then presented the scheme as a solution, calling it “a flawed economic approach.” He insisted a loan should not be confused with a scholarship and rejected claims that Atiku’s energy policy would threaten NELFUND or workers’ welfare.
