Celestial Pastor kills wife over cheating claims, dies after jumping in front of speeding truck

Tragedy struck the Ogooluwa community in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State on Monday, August 31, when a Celestial Church pastor, Bidemi Odukoya, allegedly macheted his wife to death during a midnight domestic dispute before fleeing the scene and dying by suicide on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The incident occurred around 2am at the couple’s residence beside the Celestial Church of Christ, Iri Orun Parish. Youth leader Seun Adelana alleged that infidelity accusations from both sides fueled the altercation that led to the attack. Neighbour Oluwatoyin Oseni revealed the couple frequently fought, with police previously involved, and that they had reportedly not been speaking since June.

After killing his wife with a machete and wooden stool, Odukoya fled to the expressway. Witnesses said he crossed the road repeatedly before sitting on the median and deliberately jumping before an oncoming truck, resulting in his instant death. Both were buried side by side behind their home later that day.

Community leaders, including Baale Chief Taiwo Akiode, expressed profound shock, describing the couple as jovial and respectful. Akiode called it a “tragedy of monumental proportion” that has left residents in deep mourning. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident and said the case file is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for diligent investigation.
