Certificate forgery trial: Court permits ex-minister Nnaji to travel abroad

A Federal High Court in Abuja has released the international passport of former Innovation, Science and Technology Minister Uche Nnaji to enable him travel abroad for medical treatment.

According to Tribune Online, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ordered the passport’s release on Monday after Nnaji’s lawyer moved an application seeking permission for the trip.

Nnaji is standing trial on six counts filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, involving alleged certificate forgery, false information and corruption.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The ICPC alleges Nnaji presented forged NYSC and University of Nigeria, Nsukka certificates during documentation for his ministerial appointment.

The court had earlier granted him N20 million bail and ordered him to deposit his passport pending trial.
