CNN, Politico, MS NOW take Trump to court over White House access ban

CNN, MS NOW and Politico have sued President Donald Trump’s administration after their journalists were barred from the White House and had their press credentials revoked.

According to PUNCH, the three media organisations filed the lawsuit Monday, seeking to restore access and protect their First Amendment rights.

The outlets said the White House revoked their credentials without notice because it objected to their reporting, describing the action as a threat to press freedom.

Trump announced the ban on Friday, accusing the organisations of reporting what he called “fiction and lies” about his administration.

Reporters from the outlets were denied entry Saturday and had their passes confiscated.

The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Washington, with emergency hearings possible this week.
