Cody Gakpo chooses Manchester City as Tottenham suffer transfer blow

Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo has reportedly chosen Manchester City as his preferred destination, dealing a major blow to Tottenham’s hopes of signing the Dutch international. According to the Evening Standard, David Ornstein reports that Gakpo has agreed personal terms with City, who are now working to finalise a deal with Liverpool.

The 27-year-old was understood to be considering three options: remaining at Anfield, joining Tottenham or moving to the Etihad Stadium. City’s interest intensified after Savio joined Spurs for £75 million. Gakpo’s potential departure could be facilitated by Liverpool’s agreement to sign Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain for a deal worth up to £123 million.
