Colombia Quake: Woman rescued alive after 36 hours under rubble
Daniela Largo, 32, was rescued alive after being trapped under rubble for 36 hours following a 7.4-magnitude earthquake in western Colombia, BBC reports.
Rescuers dug two tunnels through collapsed concrete slabs to free her from a building in Pereira. At least 188 people have died in the quake, with hundreds still missing. President Abelardo de la Espriella called her rescue “news which fills us with hope.”
In Cali, the hardest-hit city, over 200 people remain trapped, though 87 have been rescued so far, prompting authorities to impose a night-time curfew.
