Europe’s major rivers are drying up…
Record heat and prolonged drought have driven water levels in some of Europe’s biggest rivers to record lows, exposing dry riverbanks and transforming once-lush landscapes.
According to The Washington Post, repeated heat domes since late spring have intensified drought conditions across the continent.
The Seine, Rhine and Danube are among the rivers particularly affected, with European satellite observations showing unusually low water levels. The conditions follow months of exceptional heat that have dried vegetation and waterways across several countries, underscoring the growing impact of extreme weather across Europe.
