Could alien debris be lurking on the moon? Scientists plan to find out

Scientists are proposing a mission to search the Moon for microscopic debris that could have been left behind by extraterrestrial civilizations.

According to The New York Times, researchers studying the search for extraterrestrial intelligence believe particles shed by alien technology could have travelled through space and settled on the lunar surface.

The team proposes examining about one cubic metre of lunar soil for artificial particles, including metals and other manufactured materials. Advanced instruments, researchers say, could help identify unusual substances and determine whether they originated beyond Earth.

However, scientists acknowledge that finding genuine alien material would be extremely unlikely, and that human spacecraft have already deposited debris on the Moon.
