Court of Appeal sacks Iloro-Ekiti monarch, Oba heads to Supreme Court
The Court of Appeal has sacked the Oluloro of Iloro-Ekiti, Oba James Oluwafemi Olugbesoye, according to a Daily Post report, affirming an earlier Ekiti State High Court ruling. Counsel to the plaintiff, Falade Olasunkanmi, said the court upheld his appointment but found he failed to perform mandatory traditional rites.
Defence counsel Ezekiel Agunbiade disputed the verdict, citing insufficient evidence considerations, and confirmed the monarch has appealed to the Supreme Court with a stay of execution application. Olugbesoye expressed shock, insisting the plaintiffs lacked locus standi and that he fulfilled all traditional requirements during his coronation.
