Crown Prince steps in as regent as Norway’s king is hospitalised

Norway’s King Harald V has been hospitalised, prompting Crown Prince Haakon to take over as Regent for two weeks. According to Punch Newspapers, citing GB News, the 89-year-old monarch was admitted to the National Hospital on Monday following a medical examination.

The Royal House said Harald had been treated with cortisone for hemolytic anemia, a blood disease, which led to fluid accumulation requiring hospital treatment. It is the second hospitalisation this month, after an earlier visit for a planned checkup. The Royal House said further updates would follow on the palace’s official programme.
