Declassified CIA memos reveal Bin Laden planned to attack Britain years before 9/11

Newly declassified CIA documents reveal that Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was plotting attacks on British soil years before the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the United States, according to a bombshell trove of 69 briefing notes released by the spy agency to mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11, as reported by The Sun.

A memo dated August 28, 1998 — compiled after US cruise missile strikes on Al-Qaeda bases in Sudan — stated that “hours before the US missile strikes, Bin Laden was looking at options for further attacks against the US as well as the UK.”

The document, titled “Bin Ladin Terrorist Network Still a Threat,” represents the largest single release of 9/11-related intelligence information ever made public.
