Former Spain manager Vicente del Bosque has paid a glowing tribute to Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal, claiming the teenager would have earned a starting place in his legendary national team between 2008 and 2012.

Speaking about the 19-year-old, Del Bosque expressed his admiration for the youngster’s exceptional talent and revealed that he first encountered him at the age of 11.

“He probably would have been a starter,” Del Bosque declared, as reported by Barca Universal. The former Real Madrid manager also recalled his first meeting with Yamal at a tournament organised by Jose Ramon de la Morena.

“I first met him when he was just 11 years old at a tournament organised by Jose Ramon de la Morena, and he already looked promising. He is a very good player,” he recalled.

Del Bosque’s assessment is particularly significant considering the quality of players in his Spain squad, including Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos.

Yamal, who made his Barcelona debut at 16, has since established himself as one of world football’s leading talents.
