Javier Tebas accuses Real Madrid of prolonging Negreira case to damage Barcelona
La Liga president Javier Tebas has accused Real Madrid of intentionally dragging out the Negreira case to inflict maximum reputational damage on Barcelona, according to GOAL.
Tebas claimed that Los Blancos’ aggressive stance and constant legal appeals are strategic maneuvers to keep the refereeing scandal in the headlines.
He suggested that Real Madrid’s hostility escalated only after Barcelona withdrew from the European Super League project.
Speaking at the World In Progress congress, Tebas criticized the capital club’s approach: “They are stretching the Negreira case like chewing gum. Real Madrid thinks Negreira is in every referee’s dressing room at every stadium where Real Madrid plays.”
Tebas added: “It must be clearly stated that what is happening with the constant attacks against Barcelona is unacceptable because this is a drawn-out affair.
Barcelona will have to assume their responsibilities if necessary, but right now they cannot be blamed for anything because it is Real Madrid that is asking for the process to be prolonged.”
