‘Devil made me do it’ — 87-year-old admits attacking Adamawa judge with cutlass
An 87-year-old man, Dauda Garba, has been remanded at the Yola Correctional Facility for allegedly attacking an Area Court judge with a machete in Adamawa State.
According to Daily Trust, Garba allegedly assaulted Judge Dauda Hamman on August 31, 2026, at Mayo-ine Area Court, Fufore, after becoming angered by proceedings in a case involving him. The judge reportedly sustained severe injuries to his hand and was hospitalised.
At his arraignment before Chief Magistrate Isah Bello Shelleng on Monday, Garba admitted the offence, blamed the devil and pleaded for mercy. The court adjourned the case until September 17 for hearing.
