Dolly Parton dead at 80

Country music icon Dolly Parton has died at age 80, her family announced on Tuesday. According to NBC News, her nephew, Brian Seaver, confirmed the news in a video posted to her Instagram but did not provide details about her death.

It comes after Parton announced in May 2026 that she was cancelling a Las Vegas show, revealing she had been treated for kidney stones for several years.

Over a 60-year career, Parton sold more than 100 million records, won 11 Grammy Awards, and built an entertainment empire including the Dollywood theme park. Her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, died in March 2025.
