D’Tigress players receive $100,000 presidential reward

The National Sports Commission has confirmed payment of the naira equivalent of $100,000 to each D’Tigress player and $50,000 to team officials for winning the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket.

According to THISDAY, the beneficiaries’ accounts were credited on September 9, 2026, with all recipients confirming receipt.

The NSC said the cash payment completed President Bola Tinubu’s promised rewards, which also included three-bedroom Abuja apartments and national honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON). D’Tigress won the Afrobasket title for a record fifth cnsecutive time.
