Eddie Howe emerges as prime candidate to replace Michael Carrick at Man United
Manchester United are actively considering Eddie Howe as a prospective successor to manager Michael Carrick if the club decides to part ways with the former midfielder, according to a report by BBC Sport.
Howe, who has been out of work since departing Newcastle United in the summer, is viewed favorably by United’s executive leadership, including sporting director Jason Wilcox.
The 48-year-old manager’s initial release clause has reportedly halved from £6m to £3m, decreasing over time before expiring at the end of the season.
While Carrick remains in charge ahead of a crucial fixture against Chelsea, manager pressure continues to mount. When addressing his current job security, Carrick stated, “I don’t need any assurances.”
Despite skepticism from sections of the fanbase, former players Roy Keane, Darren Bent, Gareth Barry, and Jack Wilshere have endorsed Howe, citing his past success in player development and establishing culture at Bournemouth and Newcastle.
