EFCC boss faces sack calls over Osun account freeze
Calls for the removal of EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede have intensified following the controversial freezing of Osun State Government accounts days before the August 15 governorship election.
According to PUNCH, Accord and NNPP figures demanded Olukoyede’s resignation or dismissal, alleging political partisanship. President Bola Tinubu had ordered the accounts unfrozen, describing the EFCC’s action as embarrassing.
However, Presidency sources said Olukoyede’s job remains secure. Senior lawyer Femi Falana also defended the EFCC’s authority, while court documents showed the commission obtained an August 5 Federal High Court order freezing three Osun government accounts under investigation for alleged diversion of public funds and money laundering.
