EFCC explains why recovered N1.23tn won’t go into FG account
The recovered N1.23 trillion in proceeds of crime will not be found in the Federal Government’s account, according to Daily Post Nigeria, which cited EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren.
He explained on Arise Television that recoveries fall into two categories: indirect recoveries returned to crime victims, and direct recoveries channelled into government projects.
The clarification followed EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede’s stewardship report covering October 2023 to July 2026, during which the agency recorded its highest-ever monetary recovery and secured 10,872 convictions, marking 34 months in office.
