EFCC: Institutions recovered from crime have been converted to federal universities

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said a university recovered through forfeiture has become a fully functioning federal institution, with 1,909 students matriculated in December 2025, according to a report by The Punch.

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede said the former NOK University in Kaduna is now the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia. He also disclosed that another “high-value” private university, believed to be Rayhaan University in Kebbi, was recently forfeited, citing an oversized vice-chancellor’s house.

Olukoyede said the Commission secured forfeiture of 10,053 assets between October 2023 and July 2026, returning ₦12.07 billion to government coffers, alongside ₦1.233 trillion recovered and 10,872 convictions in the same period.
