EFCC warns Nigerian lawyers against charging clients in dollars
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has warned Nigerian lawyers against charging clients in foreign currencies, describing the practice as illegal and unethical,according to Nairametrics.
The warning was issued by the Acting Zonal Director, Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, Bawa Usman Kaltungo, during a meeting with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Task Force on Illegal Practice of Law.
Kaltungo urged legal practitioners to comply with Nigerian laws and professional standards, warning that those found culpable could face prosecution. The EFCC also pledged to strengthen collaboration with the NBA to tackle illegal practices within the profession.
