Egyptian queen’s historic 673-diamond necklace stolen in Vienna museum

A diamond necklace once owned by Egypt’s Queen Nazli has been flagged by INTERPOL after being stolen from an exhibition at Vienna’s Museum of Applied Arts, according to Vanguard News.

The 673-diamond necklace was added to INTERPOL’s Stolen Works of Art database following its listing by Austrian authorities. In a post on X, INTERPOL confirmed the theft and the piece’s royal provenance, noting it once belonged to Queen Nazli, wife of King Fuad I of Egypt, who served as queen consort from 1919 until the monarchy’s abolition in 1953.

The listing places the historic jewellery on an international watchlist as authorities work to trace and recover it.
