El-Rufai threatens legal action, seeks N10bn from defence minister
According to Punch, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has demanded N10 billion in compensation from Defence Minister Christopher Musa over alleged defamatory statements.
In a letter before action dated Monday, El-Rufai’s lawyers accused Musa of falsely claiming during a September 3 Channels Television interview that El-Rufai planned killings in southern Kaduna, paid bandits, and demolished opponents’ properties. The lawyers described the statements as portraying El-Rufai as “a criminal, a murderer, a sponsor of banditry.”
They demanded a public retraction, apology in two national newspapers, and disclosure of Musa’s sources within seven days. Failure to comply, the letter warned, could result in court proceedings seeking damages, injunctions, and further legal costs.
