Eric Chelle clarifies Victor Osimhen’s absence from Super Eagles matches

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has denied any conflict involving Victor Osimhen after the striker missed Nigeria’s matches during the international break. Osimhen was initially named in the squad but failed to recover from an injury sustained around 10–15 days before the break.

According to Daily Post Nigeria, Chelle said Osimhen would have joined Nigeria if he had recovered sufficiently to play for Galatasaray beforehand. The striker consequently missed the AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, as well as Tuesday’s 3–3 friendly draw with Russia.
