Erling Haaland sues Norwegian Airline over World Cup campaign
Erling Haaland has filed a lawsuit against Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA over the alleged unauthorised use of his identity and brand in a World Cup marketing campaign. According to Flashscore, Haaland’s lawyer, Thomas Hagen, confirmed that legal action was filed on behalf of the Manchester City striker and York Promotions Ltd.
The dispute centres on a social media post featuring a Norwegian aircraft edited with Haaland’s trademark hairstyle. The airline later deleted the post. Norwegian confirmed receiving the lawsuit but described it as “baffling,” saying the campaign was part of spontaneous posts supporting Norway’s national team during the World Cup. The case concerns the alleged unlawful use of Haaland’s image rights.
