Ermedin Demirović produced a devastating first-half performance as VfB Stuttgart opened their Champions League campaign with a 3-1 victory over Norwegian side Viking. The striker scored three times in 12 minutes to put Sebastian Hoeneß’s team firmly in control before the interval. According to Bundesliga, Demirović opened the scoring in the 20th minute after Angelo Stiller’s pass, only for Zlatko Tripić to equalise two minutes later.
Stuttgart quickly regained their advantage when Demirović converted from Deniz Undav’s delivery before completing his treble with another Undav assist in the 32nd minute. Viking improved after the break, but Stuttgart remained comfortable and secured an impressive start to their European campaign.
