Europe’s natural gas supplies fall as winter approaches
Europe is facing growing concerns over its winter energy supply as natural gas storage levels remain at their lowest end-of-summer level in at least 15 years.
According to The Wall Street Journal, European Union gas storage facilities are only 65 per cent full, after companies delayed purchases in anticipation that the Iran war would end and prices would decline.
The situation has been worsened by disruptions affecting liquefied natural gas supplies from Qatar, a major global exporter, amid tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.
With winter approaching, analysts warn that Europe could face tighter supplies and higher energy prices if gas deliveries remain constrained.
