Family announces date of late Bamanga Tukur’s burial
The remains of former Governor of the defunct Gongola State, Alhaji Bamanga Muhammad Tukur, will be laid to rest in Yola, Adamawa State, on Sunday, September 13, according to Blueprint.
In a statement signed by Awwal Tukur, the family disclosed that his remains would arrive in Yola on Saturday, with funeral prayers to hold at the Lamido’s Palace at 10:00am on Sunday before burial.
Tukur died three days before his 91st birthday, further capping a career that spanned decades as General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Governor of Gongola State, Minister of Industries and National Chairman of the PDP.
He is survived by two wives and 18 children, including Awwal Tukur, Secretary to the Government of Adamawa State. President Bola Tinubu earlier mourned him as an elder statesman whose wise counsel and fatherly guidance Nigeria would miss.
