Family: Jason Arday subjected to campaign of sustained abuse before death
The family of Jason Arday, Cambridge’s former youngest Black professor who died on Friday amid a plagiarism scandal, has blamed his death on a sustained campaign of abuse and misinformation.
According to Peoples Gazette, a statement via his publisher Simon & Schuster UK said Arday endured over three years of targeted attacks, describing him as “a gentle man” overwhelmed by misinformation. The family asked for privacy, calling for an end to media harassment.
Vice-Chancellor Deborah Patience expressed condolences, while Arday’s resignation letter had cited the “profound toll” of relentless accusations on him and his family.
