Father of two convicted over 1.043kg cocaine trafficking charge
A Federal High Court in Ibadan has convicted a 33-year-old man, Eze Emeka, for dealing and trafficking 1.043kg of cocaine, according to the People’s Gazette. Justice Uche Agomoh delivered the conviction after Emeka pleaded guilty to a two-count charge brought by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
NDLEA counsel D. O. Otunla told the court Emeka was arrested on April 20 on the Ibadan-Oyo Expressway while travelling to Sokoto, after excreting the cocaine. The judge said the prosecution proved the charges beyond reasonable doubt.
Defence counsel Anthony Nnamuko pleaded for leniency, describing Emeka as a first-time offender with a wife and two children. Sentencing was adjourned to September 23.
