Six African countries get Brazil eVisa access, Nigeria excluded

Nigeria has been excluded from the list of African countries eligible for Brazil’s newly introduced electronic visa, aimed at streamlining the application process for temporary visits to the South American country, according to Peoples Gazette.

South Africa, Botswana, Morocco, Namibia, Tunisia and Seychelles are the six countries qualified for the eVisa initiative, which began on September 1, 2026, allowing applicants to upload documents via Brazil’s Integrated Consular System and receive approval by email without visiting a consulate.

Under the scheme, citizens of these countries can stay in Brazil for up to 90 days per visit and 180 days annually, except Seychelles, where the 180-day allowance applies per 90-day cycle. Nigerians and other excluded nationals must still apply through traditional embassy visits.

The Nigerian passport currently ranks 167th globally on the Global Passport Index.
