FBI investigation wasn’t targeted at Tinubu — Omokri
Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has acknowledged that an FBI investigation took place involving individuals connected to President Bola Tinubu, but insisted the President was not its target.
According to Tribune Online, Omokri said on Channels TV’s Politics Today that Tinubu was linked to the probe only through client funds he held as an accountant, adding that a forfeiture applied to the accounts, not to Tinubu personally.
He cited a 2003 FBI records check showing no criminal arrest, warrant, or wanted status against Tinubu, while dismissing renewed scrutiny of the President’s age and academic history as distractions from pressing national issues.
