FBI officially confirms drug trafficking investigation involving Nigeria’s President Tinubu
The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation has officially confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was investigated for alleged drug trafficking activities in the early 1990s, in a sworn declaration filed before the US District Court for the District of Columbia on August 28, 2026.
According to Daily Post, the declaration, submitted as part of a Freedom of Information Act case seeking access to FBI records connected to Tinubu, stated that “the responsive records herein were compiled in furtherance of the FBI’s investigation of multiple individuals for drug trafficking crimes.”
Tinubu has consistently denied any wrongdoing related to drug trafficking allegations. The FOIA case has been pending for more than three years.
