Atiku: Nigeria has highest fuel price among oil-producing countries
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, saying Nigerians pay more for petrol than citizens of several oil-producing countries. Atiku, through his spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, on Tuesday compared Nigeria’s petrol price of about N1,400 per litre with prices in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Algeria and Angola. He particularly cited war-ravaged Libya, where petrol reportedly sells for about N34 per litre.
According to Peoples Gazette Atiku accused the Tinubu administration of using Nigeria’s natural resources to worsen citizens’ economic hardship, arguing that Nigerians earn less while paying more for fuel.
His comments followed President Tinubu’s defence of his economic reforms, saying his administration would not return to policies it inherited.
