The Federal Government has urged delegates at the 2026 National Youth Conference in Abuja to produce practical recommendations on unemployment, poverty and insecurity that will shape youth policies.
The Federal Government has urged delegates to the 2026 National Youth Conference to develop actionable recommendations to address unemployment, poverty, insecurity and other challenges facing young Nigerians, Punch reports.
The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, gave the charge on Wednesday at the start of the physical phase of the conference at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites, Abuja. The theme is “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future.” The physical phase followed virtual consultations with young Nigerians across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Olawande said, “We are not here just to speak to ourselves. We are here to help shape decisions that will affect millions of young Nigerians who are not in this room.”
He urged the delegates to ensure the conference does not end as another talk shop, and said the ministry would strengthen partnerships to implement its outcomes.
The Permanent Secretary, Dr Maryam Keshinro, urged delegates to take ownership of the conference and turn their deliberations into practical recommendations and measurable commitments.
